Job Description
Our client is a small but highly profitable chemical manufacturing company. They have cornered the market for their product line and have increased production during the recession! They are well positioned for growth and are looking for a candidate to replace a highly valued employee who will retire soon.

Responsibilities:
This is a combination Environmental Affairs leadership position with some day to day Production Engineering support of the plant. The position has a Director title and reports to the VP of Manufacturing. It is highly visible with much autonomy and the ability to have a huge impact on the ongoing success of the company. Expect varied responsibilities in the areas of environmental compliance, process improvements, process safety management, and engineering.
? Environmental Reporting and Compliance: Responsible for submission of required plant environmental reports including Toxic Chemical Release Inventory Reporting, Hazardous Waste Reports, and etc. Develops long range environmental plans and evaluated the environmental impact of process modifications and plant expansions. Completes site audits.
? Process Safety Management: Chair the Process Hazards Committee and lead Process Hazards Reviews in compliance with OSHA PSM. Develop and review plant operating procedures.
? Work to improve product quality, reduce operating costs, increase capacity and further streamline the process.
? Participate in the plant Continuous Improvement Program including ISO 9001 and cGMP compliance.
? Project and Maintenance Engineering: Initiate, justify and manage capital projects and maintenance projects through design, purchasing, construction and start-up support inclosing procedure writing and operator training. (There will be an opportunity to use outside contractors in support of this effort.)
? Occasional assistance with the DCS system.
Requirements:
? BS Chemical Engineering or related
? 5 to 25 years experience with some time in an OSHA PSM covered chemical manufacturing facility with some time supporting process operations
? Expertise in Environmental Regulatory Affairs: First hand experience in environmental permitting audits, negotiating with regulatory authorities
Past history acting as the plant TSCA coordinator
? Leadership skills and the ability to direct a team effort.
